According to a recent BBC report, the number of female millionaires is set to rise (check out http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/4788815.stm). In addition to that, according to a UK think tank women are set to represent more than HALF of Britain’s millionaires by 2020. The wealth gap between millionaires of both sexes is also closing, the report found.

Over the past eight years, while the wealth of a male millionaire increased by 9.2%, female millionaires’ net worth shot up by 53.9%.  Another report in The Guardian states that a report from market analyst Datamonitor has found that women now make up 46% of the UK’s 376,000 millionaires, and this number is increasing by 11% a year.

Possible explanations for this range from women living longer; women are more independent than in the past and there are more female entrepreneurial role models than in the past to women running businesses is much more culturally accepted and women have better inter-personal and management skills than men – key skills to have in the 21st century business world.

The fact of the matter however, is that irrelevant of how much wealth an individual generates if they don’t know how money works or even if their relationship with money is a negative one, they will gain and lose it continuously.

My Rich Dad said “Most people struggle financially because they take advice from sales people, not rich people.” – Robert Kiyoskai.

As such no one should care more about your money than YOU! And most definitely not an Independent Financial Advisers! IFAs, as they are also termed, are not so independent but simply sales people working on behalf of the insurance and financial companies.

This is not to say that IFAs do not have their place but you should know more about your money than they do, rather than accepting the old rules of money – which are

  • Get a Job
  • Work Hard
  • Get a pension
  • Save, Save, Save!

  1. Get out of debt and stop paying interest to things that don’t pay you interest.
  2. Taxes – understand and get educated about how to avoid paying more taxes than you need to by starting you own part-time home-based business. Did you know if you operated a home based business you would have numerous tax deductions?
  3. Stop thinking that your job, pension, house is going make you wealthy. It is your passion and multiple streams of income that will do this!
  4. Create and build assets that create wealth such as business, property, developing saleable and valuable skills
  5. Surround yourself with like-minded individuals, mentors/advisers, etc, who understand how the system of wealth creation works and get financially literate, so you know how to make your money work harder for you!
